I started Hadley Designs in 2015 and grew it to an eight-figure brand in seven years.

I made mistakes along the way that made the path to eight figures longer. At times I doubted whether our business could even survive and become a real brand. I wish I would have had a guide to help me grow faster and avoid the stumbling blocks.

Today, I’m excited to introduce you to Mark Casey. For the past seven years Mark has studied the Amazon algorithm to understand how it works and how we can work along with it to rank products. He has traveled the world to speak and share these techniques with the largest sellers worldwide. Mark’s personal background is marketing and branding, having brands of his own along with his Amazon knowledge, working under the nine figure brand, combining those together is how House of AMZ was born, where Mark can help is to optimize your products and brand not only for the outside world, but mainly on Amazon, which has its own ecosystem in itself. So welcome to the podcast, Mark.

Mark Casey 2:01

Thank you very much. Yeah. Good morning. How are you?

Josh Hadley 2:04

Hey, I’m doing great. Thanks again for joining me, and I apologize for my voice built to the listeners and to yourself. I lost my voice coaching hockey practice and yelling, shouting at the kids. Because there’s multiple teams on the ICF to speak relatively loud, and it did my voice then that’s for sure. So I apologize about that.

Mark Casey 2:27

Oh, good. Yeah, no worries.

Josh Hadley 2:29

But Mark, I’m super excited to have you on the podcast, we met at the sell and scale summit put on by Helium 10, about a month ago, and you spoke on stage, I think you were only given about 10 or 15 minutes at best. And the amount of knowledge that you shared in those 10 to 15 minutes was unreal, I took down a lot of notes. And I’m sure you could dive in a little bit deeper on each of those topics. And so that’s why I wanted to bring you on the podcast, share your wealth of knowledge with our audience who are established sellers, right, they’ve already been doing seven figures, they’re looking to go to eight figures and beyond. And so I want to get into like detailed strategies, things that people can implement today to improve their rankings on Amazon, and continue to scale their business further. So, Mark, tell me kind of how you got into the Amazon world. You’ve been studying the algorithm, you know, for quite a while now. Tell me how you got interested in that and your journey up to this point?

Mark Casey 3:35

Yeah. 100%? Well, first of all, it makes me uncomfortable that you said that you are established sellers who are listeners, because oftentimes I give a lot of different seminar speeches or podcasts where people are questioning what’s the honeymoon period. And I’m usually speaking about things that are like past that stage. So it makes me very comfortable. And I hope to share a lot of fun and cool things. My background. So I’ve always done marketing branding. I’ve always been in the business world. But I started working for someone in the Health and Beauty space. And I’ve helped them with all their marketing and branding, kind of to build the brand up. So they offered me a position to work there Amazon and this was like, I would say closer to eight years ago, where it was like Amazon wasn’t what it is now. So I’m like, no, what’s this Amazon thing? So I declined. And then they pushed me again to do this Amazon, I thought of it as like a gig. I’m like, Okay, what’s this? So I pushed myself on, I ended up doing it. And I did it a little bit here over there started researching and understanding what it is. And then ever since then that kind of like grew up from there. They were doing also, I would say maybe like seven or 8 million on Amazon. Fast forward till today. They’re doing over 100 million. They’re in Rite Aid or CVS and target. Yeah. So I really took the time to understand, hey, what’s Amazon looking for? But I want to understand the algorithm to kind of feed it and understand it. And if you’re hitting the right points, then Amazon’s going to reward you for that. So I took the time to actually understand it. And they kind of blend that together with my marketing knowledge and combine the two. And that’s kind of what we do now is like, create and design this things. But according to the Amazon SEO and algorithm kind of rulebook, so that’s the idea. That’s kind of my background. So whenever I give, like tips and tricks, it’s coming from that point of view, rather than like, oh, just do A, B, and C, and like, something basic.
