If you want to 10X your sales, Mike McClary shares his conversion bomb, a secret weapon he developed to optimize product listings. To do this, you must set up processes to manipulate Amazon’s algorithm that suggests continuous sales. Mike advocates setting up strikethrough pricing, which is selling products at a higher list price by attaching a coupon or Prime-exclusive discount to the price. This is effective because the coupons do not factor into the original price. Another way to influence the algorithm is by adding numerous converting badges to the list price, such as coupons and money-off promotions. This conversion bomb will inflate your conversion rates, increase the number of units sold per transaction, and boost product rankings.

You know, I knew you’re going to put me on the spot with that once we talked about that a little bit because I can hear my kids groaning all the time when we tell these dad jokes. Well, my daughter was recently just got approved to be an EMT in the state of Illinois, actually got hired by her college, University of Illinois to be an EMT. Her two roommates are EMTs as well. So all three of them. And so I suggested they start their own group called the three EMTs. They did not like that idea. They didn’t see the humor in it or at all. But you know, that was the best I come up with on the spot because I just heard the groans last night when I told that to her.

Well, Mike, I think for our listeners who don’t know about you, I would love for you to share just a brief background about yourself and how you came into the world of e-commerce because you came from a different kind of background where it was more, you know, a corporate professional career that you came from. So why don’t you tell us a little bit more about that journey and what led you to where you are today? Yeah, sure. So

I definitely did not get into e-comm until, you know, for me like 10 years ago, which seems like forever right now. And for some of your listeners, I’m sure that seems like a long time ago as well. But to me, that was, you know, I was well into my professional career. So I grew up in a small town in southern Illinois, Belleville, Illinois, just outside of St. Louis, went to a state university. My first job out of college is working for a paint manufacturer, Benjamin Moore paints because that’s where I, I worked over the summers to put myself through school, and then realize that I didn’t really want to be in sales. And that’s my job was. And so very quickly, I was able to get moved up to their corporate headquarters at the time in Chicago, and started working in it. And so still a mid Midwest kind of guy doing a job more IT related back then. And I realized after a few years of doing it He for this pink company met my soon to be wife there, by the way. So there’s some big perks out of getting that job up there. I realized by getting into the support side of business, I was no longer on the revenue making side of business. So my income potential was really limited because you know, start off in sales moved out to support. And then the sales manager there said, Mike, you’re going to come back to sales, you’re gonna come back to sales at some point because people who don’t, who live on the cost side of the equation for a company do not get compensated enough. And that’s stuck with me for a long, long time. And there was, so after doing that job for a couple years, I actually decided that, you know, I got some good, it waited schools and finance schools actually had a finance degree at U of I where I went, how can I combine those skills with being on the sales side of it. And so then Josh, I actually got a job with Ernst and Young. I went to work as a consultant with them, where I could use my technical finance skills, but sell myself for the company in order to help generate revenue. It’s kind of the best of both worlds at that time. The downside was, I was traveling all the time, So, I don’t know about you. You had to travel a lot in your career as well?
